About Us

The New Brunswick Public Interest Research Group (NB-PIRG) Society is committed to promoting core issues of human rights, and social, economic, and environmental justice through public research, education and action.
What is a PIRG? A Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) is a student-funded, student- directed organization devoted to issues of public concern and working for constructive social change. As an independent and non-profit organization, a PIRG will provide an opportunity for students interested in social, legal, environmental, and political issues to get together to study and take concrete action on these issues.

The NB-PIRG Society was just ratified by the University of New Brunswick Students’ Union and is in the process of beginning a campaign to bring a PIRG to New Brunswick. From the newly ratified constitution of the NBPIRG Society: The NBPIRG Society is a non-profit student run organization that will strive to research, raise awareness of, motivate action on diverse grassroots social and environmental justice issues, facilitate campus- community links, and inspire sustainable change through engaging, inclusive, and non-hierarchical methods.
You do not need to be a student to be involved, on the contrary, we are actively seeking and need community members to help us build support for the establishment of a PIRG here in New Brunswick.

  1. I really welcome the development of an NBPIRG. I will be out of town on Sep 21, but will be looking forward to seeing what develops. Thanks for being interested in seeing NB change for the better. and thanks for being willing to take action to see that change occurs.
